Rare matching pair of exceptionally comfortable DS-85 lounge chairs by De Sede, preserved in their original black leather with a beautiful natural patina.

This striking pair of DS-85 lounge chairs was produced by De Sede in Switzerland during the 1960s. Characterized by their deep proportions, low profile and distinctive channelled upholstery, the chairs embody the exceptional leather craftsmanship for which the Swiss manufacturer became internationally renowned.

Each chair is fully upholstered in wonderfully soft original black leather that has aged beautifully over the decades. The generous vertical channels flow continuously across the seat and backrest, creating the DS-85's unmistakable sculptural silhouette. Subtle variations in tone, natural creasing and a gently developed patina give the leather remarkable depth and character while preserving the strong architectural quality of the design.

Beyond their visual presence, the DS-85 chairs are exceptionally comfortable. Their deep seat, low seating position and generously padded construction create a wonderfully relaxed and enveloping sitting experience. Despite their substantial appearance, their compact dimensions make them particularly versatile: ideal as a pair of lounge chairs in a living room, library or bedroom, or as sculptural accent seating within a contemporary interior.

The chairs were acquired together with their matching DS-85 daybed and have remained together as a set. The daybed retains its original De Sede manufacturer's label and is upholstered in the same black leather. The matching DS-85 daybed is also available separately, offering the rare opportunity to acquire the complete three-piece seating group.

Condition

Very good original vintage condition. The original black leather remains beautifully soft and supple and displays an attractive, naturally developed patina consistent with age and use.
