YOKO - Michel Ducaroy - Ligne Roset
Yoko Sofa by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, 1985 – ca. 1989
Petroleum Green Leather Three-Seater on Low Plinth Base
The Yoko sofa by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset is one of the most enigmatic designs of the 1980s. Introduced in 1985 and produced only for a few short years (until around 1989), it belongs to the true collectables of French design history. No reissues, no later editions. Only the rare originals from that brief window of production.
This example stands out through its extremely rare petroleum green leather upholstery. While most Yoko pieces were executed in neutral tones, this color was released only in very limited numbers, making it a true collector’s piece. The sofa remains entirely original, with supple leather that shows only the most refined patina.
Its condition is remarkable: the sofa is in pristine state, with leather that remains soft and inviting, firm foam structure, and intact stitching. A genuine time capsule that embodies the luxury spirit of Ligne Roset in the 1980s.
Yoko is a masterpiece of postmodern French lounge design ; expressive yet deeply comfortable, in the same family as Ducaroy’s iconic Togo and Kashima. But due to its short production span, it holds an even more exclusive status. A perfect fit for high-end interiors, from eclectic and Ibizian to Japandi and modernist.
