Tucroma Cantilever Dining Armchair - Guido Faleschini - i4 Mariani

Guido Faleschini Cantilever Dining Armchairs for i4 Mariani, Italy, 1970s
Bouclé Upholstered Dining Chairs with Cognac Saddle Leather Straps on a Polished Chrome Cantilever Frame

A refined set of six cantilever dining armchairs designed by Guido Faleschini and produced by i4 Mariani in Italy during the 1970s. The design reflects the architectural clarity that defined Italian modernist seating of the period, combining structural chrome with soft suspended upholstery in a composition that feels both technical and elegant.

Each chair is built around a polished chrome tubular steel cantilever frame that forms the base and armrests in one continuous line. This construction creates a visually light silhouette while allowing the seat to flex subtly when used, providing a comfortable suspended seating experience.

The chairs have been professionally reupholstered in an elegant ivory bouclé fabric. The restoration was executed with careful respect for the original proportions, construction and stitching lines of the design, preserving the authentic character of the chairs while introducing a contemporary material palette. Cognac saddle leather straps with metal eyelets connect the upholstery elements, creating a striking contrast between the textured bouclé, warm leather and polished chrome frame.

This design belongs to the same lineage as Guido Faleschini’s celebrated Tucroma family developed for i4 Mariani in the early 1970s, a collection known for its refined balance between industrial tubular steel structures and luxurious leather upholstery elements. While the Tucroma name is most often associated with lounge seating, these chairs represent a dining armchair interpretation of that same architectural design philosophy.

Architectural yet warm in character, these chairs integrate effortlessly into modernist interiors, gallery spaces and contemporary homes. Their sculptural cantilever form pairs beautifully with wood, stone or glass dining tables and works particularly well in minimalist, Japandi, architectural and eclectic interiors.

The set remains in excellent vintage condition with professionally executed upholstery and well preserved chrome frames. Original Mariani labels are present underneath the chairs.
