Marsala lounge chair - Michel Ducaroy - Ligne Roset
Marsala Lounge Chairs by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, 1970s
Thermoformed Beige Plastic Shells with Heavyweight Jacquard Upholstery
The Marsala is an inherently exclusive creation. Designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset in the early 1970s and discontinued over 50 years ago. Almost all pieces were produced in brown or smoked plexiglass, which makes this rare beige / off-white version exceptionally distinctive. The softly tinted shells combined with this refined upholstery turn this pair of lounge chairs into true collector’s gems.
Each chair has been newly reupholstered in a luxurious jacquard fabric of 810 g/m², a premium heavyweight textile woven in earthy, understated tones. The fabric blends linen, wool, and cotton, reinforced with subtle synthetic fibers for durability, stability, and refined tactility. Its structured weave accentuates Ducaroy’s sculptural silhouette and lends the chairs a soft architectural presence that perfectly matches their flowing form.
The Space-Age-inspired shell is made of thermoformed plastic, an innovative material for its time. This pair features the original “Roset – Made in France” manufacturer’s mark on the underside. The shells show minor wear consistent with age, yet remain visually stunning, with a beautiful natural patina that enhances their vintage authenticity.
A rare opportunity to acquire an authentic piece of Ligne Roset history — a sculptural and inviting lounge set that bridges futurist design with organic comfort.
