Designed in 1970, the Marenco sofa by Mario Marenco for Arflex stands as one of the most influential and recognizable icons of Italian radical design. Conceived as an informal, sculptural seating system, the Marenco challenged conventional sofa design through its generous volumes, loose cushions and uncompromising focus on comfort.

This particular example represents a rare early production edition, distinguished by its original internal steel frame with metal suspension brackets. This construction method is exclusive to the first generation Marenco sofas and was later simplified in subsequent editions.
