An exceptional matching pair of the iconic Kubus lounge chair, manufactured by Wittmann Austria after the celebrated design by Josef Hoffmann.

Originally conceived by Josef Hoffmann in 1910, the Kubus is one of the most recognizable expressions of Viennese modernism. Its rigorous geometric construction, composed of individually upholstered squares, gives the chair an architectural presence that remains remarkably contemporary more than a century after its conception.

This matching pair was manufactured by Wittmann Austria, the authorized producer of Josef Hoffmann designs since 1969. Both chairs retain their original Wittmann manufacturer’s labels as well as the characteristic brass plaques reading “Hoffmann made by Wittmann Austria.”

Executed in beautiful black leather, this pair has developed just the right amount of character. The leather remains deep and uniform in color, with subtle natural signs of age and use giving it an attractive vintage appearance without looking worn. Finding two matching vintage Kubus chairs in this combination, condition and color is increasingly difficult.

Exceptional vintage condition. The original black leather is beautifully preserved, showing only subtle signs of age and use consistent with careful ownership. No excessive wear, heavy cracking or distracting damage. Both chairs present remarkably well and have developed a beautiful, understated patina.
