The Knoll Studio Barcelona Daybed is a true icon of modern design, originally created by the legendary Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. In 1929, Mies van der Rohe was commissioned to design the German Pavilion for the Barcelona International Exhibition. Within this architectural masterpiece, the now-famous Barcelona Chair and Ottoman took center stage. Following the immense success of these pieces, a complementary daybed was introduced in 1930 to complete the collection.

Just like the chair, the Barcelona Daybed exemplifies meticulous craftsmanship and refined detail. Each of the 72 leather panels is individually cut, hand-stitched, and button-tufted—crafted from a single hide of the finest quality leather. The generously padded cushion is secured with leather straps and elegantly suspended on a polished chrome steel frame. Beneath it, a solid ash wood platform, stained in a rich dark walnut finish, provides both support and sophistication.

Thanks to the precisely integrated leather straps, the cushion stays perfectly in place, ensuring a seamless balance of comfort and style. The result? A luxurious invitation to relax in one of design history’s most iconic pieces.
