An iconic pair of Scandinavian safari chairs in solid pine, newly upholstered in a refined natural bouclé.

Designed by Swedish designer Karin Mobring for IKEA, the ‘Diana’ armchair was introduced in 1971 and became one of Mobring’s most recognizable designs. Rooted in the classic safari-chair tradition, the design combines an exceptionally simple geometric construction with a relaxed, suspended seating position. The model proved remarkably successful and remained in the IKEA catalogue for eleven years.

The architectural solid pine frames are characterized by their square construction, gently shaped armrests and beautifully exposed structural elements. The suspended seat construction is secured by leather straps, creating the characteristic low and slightly reclined seating position that gives the Diana its informal elegance.

This pair has been newly upholstered in a high-quality natural off-white bouclé, giving the chairs a softer and more contemporary appearance while preserving the distinctive construction and silhouette of Mobring’s original design. The tactile bouclé contrasts beautifully with the warm tone and natural patina of the pine frames.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. The solid pine frames retain a beautiful warm patina with minor traces of age and use consistent with their vintage character.
