Exceptional DS-707/03 three-seat sofa with matching DS-707/05 ottoman, designed by Philippe Malouin for de Sede and presented in virtually unused black leather.

Designed by Philippe Malouin and introduced by de Sede in 2020, the DS-707 is one of the Swiss manufacturer's most distinctive contemporary designs. The sculptural seating system combines flowing organic forms with the architectural language of Brutalism, resulting in a piece that feels simultaneously monumental and remarkably soft. De Sede describes the DS-707 as a modular seating system characterized by flowing forms, high-quality materials and handcrafted Swiss production.

Malouin drew inspiration from Montréal, where he grew up, and in particular from the contrast between the meandering Saint Lawrence River and Moshe Safdie's iconic Habitat 67. Those influences are immediately visible in the DS-707: a continuous serpentine silhouette is translated into a sequence of generously padded architectural volumes. De Sede itself positions the design as a meeting point between traditional upholstery craftsmanship and a distinctly contemporary, sculptural approach.

This example is the large DS-707/03 sofa, upholstered entirely in black leather and accompanied by the matching DS-707/05 ottoman. The combination is particularly strong: the ottoman extends the sculptural rhythm of the sofa while also creating a generous lounge configuration. The repeated rounded sections, deep black leather and low horizontal proportions give the set an almost monolithic presence from the front, while the curved sides and rear reveal the complexity of the construction.

The seat, back and side sections are constructed using several carefully coordinated foam layers of different densities, creating the combination of support and softness for which de Sede is known. The sofa remains part of de Sede's current collection and is handmade in Switzerland.

Condition
Exceptional, virtually unused condition. The sofa and matching ottoman show no noticeable signs of use and present essentially as new. The original black leather remains exceptionally fresh and beautifully preserved, with no significant wear, damage or deterioration visible. The set retains its original de Sede manufacturer's emblem. Its condition suggests that it has seen little to no actual use.
