Coffee Table ‘Éruption Solaire’ - GuY Lefevre - Ligne Roset/Roche Bobois
Coffee Table by Guy Lefevre France 1970s
Éruption Solaire lacquered Formica top on a recessed brass plated base
A rare and outstanding coffee table designed by Guy Lefevre in France during the 1970s. This model appears historically across both Roche Bobois and Ligne Roset, reflecting the overlapping French production networks of the decade. Several ateliers supplied identical designs to these two houses, which explains why the same Lefevre pieces circulate under both names today.
The table features a sculptural square block top that seems to hover over a recessed brass plated base, giving the piece a strong visual presence while keeping a calm and minimal profile. The surface is finished in the highly sought after Éruption Solaire pattern, a lacquered Formica with intense copper oxide movement and rich brown gold tonality. This cosmic, painterly texture is one of Lefevre’s most distinctive surface experiments and is extremely rare to find in such a beautifully preserved state.
Its compact footprint and low height make it remarkably easy to integrate into a wide variety of interiors, from seventies inspired conversation pits to contemporary minimal settings. With its rarity, elegant proportions and exceptionally well maintained condition for its age, this is a standout example of French design glam from the period.
