Square low coffee table - CIDUE - Italy
Cidue Postmodern Memphis Coffee Table, in the Style of Pierre Cardin & Willy Rizzo, Italy 1970s
Geometric black lacquered melamine structure with four cubic legs and semi-suspended top
This impressive rectangular coffee table blends Postmodern, Memphis, Constructivist, and Shabby-Chic influences, echoing the bold geometric language of Pierre Cardin and Willy Rizzo. Produced by Cidue in Italy during the 1970s–1980s, it offers a striking sculptural presence while maintaining a versatile, low-profile form ideal for contemporary interiors.
The black lacquered melamine structure rests on four solid cubic legs giving the impression of a floating top. Original Cidue label remains intact. The generous proportions and architectural silhouette make it a centrepiece in both eclectic and minimalist settings.
The top surface is in perfect condition, protected over the years by a custom glass cover. The legs show some marks from vacuum cleaner contact, and there are occasional touch-ups to the lacquer. Overall, the piece remains in correct vintage condition. A key advantage is its 27 cm height, making it easy to pair with low sofas and lounge seating.
A fine example of late 20th-century Italian design, embodying the era’s experimental forms and the cross-pollination between fashion and furniture design.
