Extremely rare and historically significant. The Bull was in production for only 1 year. Just 1 single year in the Cassina catalogue. This makes it one of the shortest produced and most elusive Cassina designs of the late 1980s.

Designed in 1987 as Frattini’s final project for Cassina, Bull represents his ultimate reflection on comfort and posture. When presenting the model he explained how our way of sitting had evolved, more relaxed, more intimate, more fluid. The back must support the body precisely where seat and backrest meet, forming a rounded and inviting angle. That philosophy is sculpted directly into Bull’s powerful silhouette.

From the exterior inward the design unfolds in progressively softer curves. The segmented, almost muscular volumes give the sofa its name, inspired by the friendly yet strong Disney cartoon Bull. The thick architectural armrests, deeply curved back cushions and compact cylindrical feet create a sculptural presence that feels both bold and welcoming.

This original bicolor execution in black and taupe leather is exceptionally rare. The contrast emphasizes the layered construction and enhances the ergonomic depth of the seat. With a generous 60 cm seat depth, the comfort is lounge oriented yet supportive exactly as Frattini intended.

The leather shows a refined natural patina with subtle creasing that underlines the authenticity and character of the piece. A late modernist Cassina statement from 1987 and increasingly difficult to source, especially in this original two tone configuration.
