Aralia 1981 - Michel Ducaroy - Ligne Roset

Aralia 3-Seater Sofa by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, 1981
Natural Leather Upholstery on Soft Sculptural Foam Base

Designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, the Aralia is a rare and collectible sofa from the early 1980s. This particular 3-seater was purchased new in 1981 and remains preserved in its original condition, upholstered in supple natural leather that has developed a warm and authentic vintage patina. Its sculptural softness and relaxed elegance make it an eye-catching centerpiece in both contemporary and eclectic interiors.

The leather upholstery shows the signature horizontal quilting and deep pleating typical of Ducaroy’s designs, giving rhythm and depth to the surface while enhancing seating comfort. The hides have matured beautifully, displaying tonal variation and natural creasing that testify to decades of gentle use.

The sofa remains in very good condition, with only the expected traces of use consistent with age and natural leather. The foam retains its structure and support, ensuring lasting comfort and durability.

As with Ducaroy’s iconic Togo, the Aralia reflects Ligne Roset’s commitment to avant-garde design and luxurious comfort. Produced in smaller numbers, the Aralia is rarely found on the market today, making this example a desirable acquisition for collectors and design enthusiasts alike.
