This exceptionally rare dining table belongs to the Tobio series designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for C&B Italia in the early 1970s. Created during a formative experimental period of Italian design, the Tobio tables explore the intersection of architecture, sculpture, and furniture through monumental form, refined proportions, and a sophisticated approach to materiality. This specific configuration represents one of the rarest known expressions of the series.

The table features a rectangular marble top with softly rounded corners, executed in a light beige to cream toned stone with subtle natural veining and a gentle, age appropriate patina. The softened edges and restrained surface treatment emphasize tactile refinement and architectural clarity, hallmarks of the Scarpa design language.

The central cylindrical pedestal base is fully wrapped in black leather, assembled in a carefully composed patchwork of panels. This material treatment reflects a signature Scarpa gesture, transforming a structural element into a sculptural volume and creating a refined dialogue between the cool marble surface and the warmth of leather.

This Tobio dining table configuration is extremely rare. While Tobio tables are documented in various forms, examples combining a rectangular marble top with rounded corners and a fully leather wrapped cylindrical base are virtually unknown. At present, this is the only documented example of this configuration available on the international market.

The table remains in correct vintage condition, with light signs of age and use consistent with its period. Both the marble and leather retain a beautiful original patina, with no structural issues or restorations.
